What purchases are eligible for the reward miles or cash rewards program?
Reward miles or cash rewards are applied to your total net purchases. That means any purchase that’s charged to your Capital One credit card minus refunds, returns, or other similar credits is eligible to earn reward miles or cash rewards in our rewards program. Transactions that aren’t eligible for reward miles or cash rewards are cash advances, balance transfers, or other access cheque transactions (including but not limited to Purchase Cheques, Special Offer Cheques, or other similar cheques). Also, you won’t accumulate reward miles or cash rewards for fees or finance charges.
If I don’t pay my credit card bill in full every month, will I still earn rewards?
Definitely. You don’t have to pay the full amount of your bill each month to keep your account in good standing. Just make sure you pay at least the minimum monthly balance, as indicated on your statement, and you’ll keep earning reward miles or cash rewards in our rewards program. If your account is not in good standing, meaning you didn’t pay your minimum monthly balance, reward miles or cash rewards will continue to accumulate but the rewards program won’t allow you to redeem any until your account is in good standing.
How long will it take for my rewards balance to appear online in my rewards summary?
Your earned reward miles or cash rewards usually appear online within 10 days. Very rarely, it may take up to two billing cycles to appear on your account. Plus, if you received bonus reward miles or cash rewards on your first purchase, they may take a little longer than normal to appear on your statement.
How do I review and redeem my reward miles or cash rewards?
Once you’re a Capital One rewards cardholder, you can redeem through Capital One Online Banking. If you don’t have an internet connection, call our Rewards Specialists at 1‑877‑680‑4423.
Will my reward miles ever expire?
No. Your reward miles are yours for the life of the account – they won’t expire. But if your account is closed, you’ll lose any reward miles you haven’t redeemed.
Why is my IHG® Rewards Club points balance lower than my actual balance?
If your credit card account is in good standing (meaning not past due, fraudulent, restricted, or part of a consumer credit counselling program or bankruptcy) we will add your accrued points to your IHG® Rewards Club account balance each month. It may take up to 90 calendar days from the date that the qualifying transaction or any bonus points are listed on your Capital One credit card statement for the applicable points to be posted to your IHG Rewards Club account balance. If your credit card account is not in good standing, points will continue to accumulate but they will not be added to your IHG Rewards Club account balance.
Can I redeem for something other than cash?
No. The cash back rewards program is only for earning cash on all your purchases.
How long will it take to get my cash rewards?
If you request a statement credit, you’ll get it within five to seven business days. If you request a cheque you’ll get it within 30 days.
Can I use my rewards to redeem for a portion of a travel transaction?
Yes. You can use your rewards to partially redeem on your travel transactions.
How does the introductory travel rewards bonus work?
Your bonus reward miles will be awarded to you when you spend the minimum requirement on net purchases in the first 3 months following account booking on eligible accounts. Net purchases are any purchases that are charged to your Capital One credit card minus credits or returns. Cash advances, balance transfers and access cheque transactions don’t count as purchases. These bonus reward miles will be reflected within two billing cycles after the qualifying purchases have been posted to your account.
