  • What is the Capital One® Mastercard®, exclusively for Costco members?

    It’s a co-branded, cash back credit card that’s exclusively for Costco members. And, it doubles as your Costco membership card.

  • I’m not a Costco member. Do I need to be to get the card? If so, how do I join?

    Yes, the card is exclusively for Costco members, so you must be a Costco member to apply. Go to Costco.ca to sign up to become a Costco member.

  • How do I earn cash back?

    You can earn cash back virtually everywhere. You get 3% on restaurants, 2% on gas and 0.5% on the first $3,000 you spend annually on all other purchases, and 1% after that.

  • Where can I use the card to earn cash back?

    You can earn cash back virtually everywhere Mastercard is accepted – at over 43 million locations worldwide, including at all Costco Wholesale locations across Canada. 

  • How do I receive and redeem my cash back?

    We’ll mail a cash back rebate coupon to you with your January statement, which you can redeem at any Costco Wholesale warehouse in Canada. A rebate coupon is only issued to you if your account is eligible when your rebate is calculated at the end of the year. You’ll receive the coupon in the mail even if you’re signed up for paperless statements. Additional terms and conditions apply and will be provided upon approval.

  • How do I activate my card?

    You’ll need to have both your card and authentication code. Your authentication code is sent separately from the card for security reasons. You can then call us at 1-800-945-1000 to select a PIN. Your card will be activated once you’ve successfully selected a PIN.

  • How do I sign up for online banking for this card?
  • What are the best ways I can make a payment on my account?

    Paying online is the most convenient way to make payments on your account. You can pay through your financial institution’s online banking site, or with Auto Pay, our pre-authorized debit service available through Capital One’s online banking site. See below for online payment options available to you.

    How to pay through your financial institution’s online banking site:

    1. Log in to your bank’s online banking site.
    2. Add “Capital One Mastercard” as a new payee to your payee list.
    3. Make your payment to Capital One Mastercard.

    Please note that it can take 2-3 business days for your online payment to post.

    How to set up pre-authorized debit payments with Auto Pay:

    1. Log in to Capital One Banking. Don’t have an account? Sign up here.
    2. Click “Set Up Auto Pay” from your toolbar.
    3. Enter your banking information and click “Continue”.
    4. Choose how much you want automatically debited from your account each month – “Minimum Payment” or “Full Payment” – then click “Continue”.
    5. Review your details and click “Submit” to enrol!
  • What is an authorized user?

    An authorized user is an additional user who can make charges on your account, but doesn’t have financial responsibility for the account. You can add an authorized user at no extra charge when you apply for the card, or after your account is approved. Please note that an authorized user must also be a Costco member.
