Want to learn more about Secured credit?
A Secured credit card isn't a pre-paid card. It's a card that gives you access to credit, just like any other credit card. This means you have a credit limit, and as with other credit cards, your payment information is sent to the credit reporting agencies. When you show responsible credit use, like making your payments on time, these credit reporting agencies recognize that you're building a strong credit history. The difference with a Secured card is that you need to provide security funds as collateral. Banks may ask for collateral when giving customers a loan or mortgage, or when extending credit, because it helps guarantee the debt will be repaid. Collateral can also help demonstrate your commitment to using the card responsibly. The security funds you pay could be as low as $75, and they're fully refundable if you ever decide to close your account (as long as your balance has been paid in full).
