Safety First – Getting Your Card

Got questions about how you get your card? We've answered some common ones below.

1. Why do I need to go to Canada Post?

Anti-Money Laundering legislation requires that we confirm identities before releasing credit cards. If we're unable to verify your identity, you'll need to go to your local post office so that a Canada Post agent can verify your identity. We're sorry for any inconvenience, but this checkpoint protects your identity and your credit.

Canada Post is set up to verify your information. Once they've confirmed your identity, they'll record and send this information to us securely.

2. What do I need to take when I visit the post office?

Please be sure to bring the following to the post office with you:

  1. Any notice or letter received – please fill out any forms that have been included
  2. One (1) piece of the following pieces of ID:
    • Driver's License (Canadian)
    • Passport - Canadian
    • Passport - Foreign
    • Canadian Citizenship card
    • Certificate of Indian Status card
    • Permanent Resident card
    • Canadian Forces Identity card
    • Firearms Possession and Acquisition Licence
    • Provincial/Territorial Identification card
    • Health Card with photo (Quebec only)

Please remember to visit your Canada Post outlet as soon as possible. We'll need to close any account once it has been open for more than 60 days without successful verification.
