Community Investment

Our Mission Statement

The next generation is our legacy and at Capital One Canada we believe in giving our children a strong foundation to succeed in life. That's why we invest in organizations and institutions that support financial education and social development for youth in the communities where we operate.

We seek to make the biggest impact in the areas of Social Development and Financial Education because we believe in supporting kids in all aspects of their development, including nutrition and education, in a fun and safe environment.

Whether through targeted financial services or community involvement,
Capital One's goal is to give people opportunities to reach their potential.

– Rich Fairbank

Community investment that gives kids a foundation to succeed in life means ensuring they have proper nutrition, housing and education.

Boys and Girls Club

Boys and Girls Club of Moncton

Capital One Canada proudly made its biggest community investment to date with $150,000 to renovate the charity's clubhouse.

The short-term goals of this program are to give children and youth full access to basic essentials currently not available to specific communities in the greater Moncton area. These essential services range from having access to good recreational and leisure programs, to transportation and nutrition and health services for underserved areas. The long-term goals of this program is to better prepare young people for the future, while at the same time helping them to leave dependency and move towards a life time of interdependency.

Invest in Kids

Invest in Kids

Our community investment supports this organization with a competitive fundraising event, a literacy program for kids, educational resources for new parents, and a learning centre sponsorship.

Capital One recently worked with Invest in Kids, a national charitable organization dedicated to ensuring the healthy development of Canada's youngest children, to bring their Comfort, Play & Teach Centre to Canadian youth. This interactive activity centre allows parents and their young children to strengthen their relationship while enjoying time together.

Comfort, Play & Teach is Invest in Kids' research-informed parenting approach to support healthy child development. These three parenting actions work together to generate responses from children that transform everyday interactions from the ordinary to the extraordinary. Comfort, Play & Teach builds parenting confidence, strengthens the parent-child bond, enriches the moment for the child and parent, and, ultimately, opens a world of possibilities for them both.

After presentations by each of the associates involved, the entire office votes on which charity will receive a $50,000 grand prize.

The Winners

2008 – Pulmonary Hypertension Association of Canada

The community investment funding went to help the Pulmonary Hypertension Association of Canada (PHA) build regional support and advocacy networks for Pulmonary Hypertension patients and caregivers across the country. Our sponsoring associate leads the Greater Toronto Area Chapter of PHA Canada.

2009 – SOS Children's Villages Canada

This year the winning donation answered SOS Children's Villages' call for funds to buy emergency food supplies for orphan children living in Ethiopia. This was an opportunity for community investment where there is great need.
